EMSA
will determine the first round game schedule during the 2nd week of October,
after organizing all community, competitive, and adult leagues.
The first round randomly groups teams into tiers of 5 or 6 teams each.
The second round re-tiers the teams by placing all 1st place teams together, all 2nd place teams together, etc.
The third round re-tiers the teams by moving the top 2 teams up to the next tier, and the bottom 2 teams down.
If enough players, tiers are split into "X" and "Y" groups (eg: 5X & 5Y). X & Y are considered equal.
The indoor season runs from the mid-October to the end of February.
There is no post-season play for U10, U8, or U6
U12 and up have post-season play in early March, either Provincials or InterCities.
There are no city finals in indoor, but if a community tier is split into "X" and "Y" groups, there will be a crossover game to decide the champion.
There is one game a week at one of the soccer centres, plus one practice a week at a local school facility.
Player Medical Conditions
It is the responsibility of the parents to inform the coach of any medical conditions
and allergies pertaining to their child. SWEMSA and its member community leagues cannot, and does not,
accept responsibility pertaining to pre-existing medical conditions.
All community soccer players should register within their home community league and indicate their team of choice on their
registration form. This will ensure that community league memberships and the appropriate soccer registration fees are directed to the player's home
community league. Community league membership is required before a player can register to play soccer.
There are rules in place to limit the movement of players between
the various zones established by the Edmonton Minor Soccer Association (EMSA).
Players residing in the southwest zone who wish to play for teams in other EMSA
zones must first receive permission from the affected coaches and zone registrars.
